Best wishes from all at the Achill Outdoor Education Centre. We are now taking bookings for 2014.
We survived all the storms over the Christmas. Lost our phone lines and everything connected to the phone line, fax, scanner, etc…
Getting back to normal now. It took some time to get our telephone working again. Thanks to the lads from Eircom. Worked very hard over the Christmas. Out New Years Day and throughout the Christmas.
Did you see the Whale. That was something! I believe he did a Lazaro’s and came back up a few days after he was buried by the Council.
Big Clear Up this week on Keel Beach.
A new beginning, a new year. Best wishes from all the staff at the Achill Outdoor Education Centre. We are now taking bookings for 2013 and look forward to hearing from all our customers.
This year, for the first time ever, Ireland will host the prestigious Kite Surfing Pro tour in Achill Island, taking on the infamous west coast wind and waves and world renowned surf conditions from 19-28 October 2012. Ireland was hand selected as one of the tour stops as a result of its exposed atlantic seaboard on the west coast, as well as its warm welcome by locals.

We are running another Local Summer Camp in August, – 13th to 17th August from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Transport provided.
Children will take part in the following activities:
Surfing, Sailing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Coasteering, Snorkeling, Archery, Indoor Rockclimbing and Team Games.
Limited number of places available. Contact Breda at 098 47253 or 0852830592.
This year we have introduced two new activities to our rang of things to do.
COASTEERING is an adventure activity that takes place in and around the rocky coastline exploring gullies, caves, cracks and different rock formations. It involves Jumping, Swimming, Rockclimbing and body surfing as you move along the coast.
Coasteering entails wearing a full body wetsuit, plus a long john wetsuit (extra warmth and some added abrasion protection) a buoyancy aid, white water helmet and suitable strong footwear.
SNORKELING is swimming while equipped with a diving mask, snorkel and fins. Use of this equipment allows the snorkeler to observe underwater attractions for extended periods of time with relatively little effort. It appeals to all ages because of how little effort there is. Why not give it a go!!
We had a very successful camp from the 9th to 13th July. It was such a success that we had to run the following week 16th to 20th July, 2012. The children took part in a variety of activities over the course of the week. They went Surfing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Snorkelling, Coasteering, Archery, Indoor Rockclimbing, Indoor and Outdoor Games and a Scramble. The bus trip to the centre was also part of the adventure when the children were picked up and dropped back at the end of the day. The best day they told me was Wednesday when they did a sea Canoe trip from the Golden Strand and then went Coasteering in Dugort. One parent said “They are sun kissed, hungry and very tired ! but they also want to know if there’s another local camp being held this summer holidays”.
It’s great to see such an interest locally and to see children appreciating and using the environment around them.
Well done Mulranny and Achill.
Next Camp is from the 13th to 17th August. Already we have a lot of interest.
We are running a second camp for Achill children next week 16th to 20th July. Due to a huge demand we are running again next week. Activities include :-
Surfing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing, Snorkeling, Coasteering, Archery, Indoor Rockclimbing and indoor Games.
Places available. Contact Breda at 098 47253 or 0852830592.
Indoor activities for all the family. Why not try some Archery, Indoor Rockclimbing and Team Games. We have an indoor facility which is an alternative in bad weather. Children can enjoy activities in the safety, comfort and the warmth of our centre with our qualified staff. On days when the weather is blowing a hurricane and it is not safe to do activities outdoors the children are safe indoors and enjoy a morning or afternoon with Archery competitions, Bouldering Sessions, Team Tasks and sporting activities such as Volleyball, Uni-hoc and Badminton. Give us a call.
